Final Flat Layout:
The packaging is made out of thin cardboard. This makes it thick enough to be able to be carried around in handbags without being crushed. Also, the magnetic opening ensures that it keeps closed.
Final Photos:
I decided on pink and blue for the clours as they are soft and happy colors. I wanted the packaging to look non-threatening so I used curved to make a simple pattern, this also represents the woman's body. I used symbols along with words to show the absorbancy of the tampons inside. The face illustration is modern and sheek, it can abeal to both young and old. On the back, is just basic info.
In the store, the tampon packaging would be standing upright so the face side can be seen. When opening up the first thing that you see in "First Timers" this is an encouraging and educational panel for first-time users that may be scared or unsure.
The TSS information folds have to be opened first encouraging the user to read this important information. One folded out the user can see the different positions they can try out to insert the tampon. On the other side, the Insertion instructions can be propped up so they can be viewed hands-free while the user inserts the tampon.
Once fully folded out the Removal instructions can be seen. All tampons are the same color that matches the color theme. A happy message can be seen when the package is empty. All the information is contained in the box packaging. There is no leaflet that can be thrown away.
Detail. The instructions flap can be removed once no longer needed. This is made easy by the holes in the packaging and the scissor icon. This gives quicker and convenient access to those users who already know how to use tampons. The flaps with the TSS instructions on them are not removable as the user may need to look at these in the future.
Example of it in use: the packaging and instructions can be easily propped up on the toilet roll dispenser or back of toilet so both hands are free for insertion.
The packaging on Supermarket Shelf stands out nicely with the simple design and white space.
